dTunes 2.1 & 2.2 have generated over 97,000 downloads and counting!
So no chance for Richard to stop surprising us with some nice additional features in dTunes new version 2.3. Thx to Richard for providing iPhone-game,de with a pre-release of the new version 2.3!
The following functions have been implemented and will be released within the next 24 hours.

dTunes finally made a big step ahead from a rapid-prototype to a really professional iPhone/iTouch application. The usability matches the iPhone feeling. We are sure you will love it!

So watch-out for installation / update in Cydia.

- Keeps playing music after pressing home button
- Ability to add Folders & Sub-Folders
- Renaming of Files & Folders (double tap while in edit mode)
- Drag & Drop Files & Folders to move items (while in edit)
- Drag & Drop Files & Folders to delete (while in edit)
- Artwork Support

Note: This is a work around for people that would like to see artwork images while in the player.
(drop an image named “cover.png” in the appropriate directory (the screen size is 320×320 and images will be scaled to this size).

Installation Issues: For users having problems with Safari after installing dTunes. This is related to the Safari Plugin 2.0. Simply download Boss Prefs from Cydia (along with the Safari Plugin add-on) and then you can turn OFF the Safari download. This will have to be turned back on when using dTunes.

Right after dTunes rocks the iPhone community with about 37.000 downloads in just 4 days! and getting the top1 application in the modmyifony-repo we are proud to present you some more great features!

iPhone-game.de is proud to present you with a simple and easy solution to download and play actual mp3 top hits to your iPhone/iTouch for free.
The only requirements are an iPhone/iTouch with Firmware 2.x (jailbreak / Cydia) installed and a simple internet connection. So here we go …

The magic application to do all of this is called “dTunes - the iTunes alternative for downloads” First of all, many thanks to Richard Shearman, ak “stitchwod,” from the modmyifone community.

At our request, Richard coded an excellent media player application in two days, which is able to play MP3 files directly from your iPhone filesystem (/var/mobile/Library/Downloads). The player will give you a list of all mp3 music files stored in this folder and you can play/pause them, as well as jump to the next/previous track, and will play all songs in the list one after the other.

You are able to install “dTunes 2.1” using the reposity of modmyifone.com (http://apt.modmyifone.com/) with Cydia.

So far so good. However, your local filesystem folder “/var/mobile/Library/Downloads” is empty for now, so there is nothing available for the player to list. That can be changed quickly because when you do the dTunes installation, the “Safari Download Plugin 2.0” will be installed automatically along with it to your iPhone/iTouch.Note: If the “Safari Download Plugin” is not installed automatically, you have to do that manualy. The plugin can be found in the “Big Boss & Planet iPhones” repository (http://apt.bigboss.us.com/repofiles/cydia/) and can be easily installed in a second using Cydia too.
The “Safari Download Plugin” is needed to store eg. MP3 files into your local file system (/var/mobile/Library/Downloads) on your iPhone/iTouch. Now the dTunes player will list all files in there.

But thats not all! Richard directly integrated the web application seeqpod* into the media player. Seeqpod-Website is a search engine solution running through the worldwide web, scanning for playable mp3 music. Simply type your request in the search field and if seeqpod has the requested song, you will find it in the search result list. The webfrontend from seeqpod is optimized for the iPhone/iTouch so it fits perfectly on this device and is easy to use. Simply click the search result and chose “Download!” to get the song on your iPhone/iTouch.The song you just loaded will appear in the playlist of your dTunes media player, so you are able to play it directly. Take a look at the screenshots to get an impression how easy all this can be done using dTunes!
